Cracker Barrel Style Green Beans

Green bean recipes can add a bit of excitement as a side dish. Amazing Cracker Barrel Style Green Beans are no exception to this with their take on the classic dish, modified for a lighter alternative.

  • 1/4 pound turkey bacon, sliced
  • 3 cans (14 1/2 ounce) whole green beans, with liquid
  • 1/4 yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon sugar substitute
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly-ground

Cook bacon until lightly brown, not crisp, in 2-quart saucepan.

Add green beans to saucepan, with liquid. Then add salt, sugar and pepper and mix.

Place onion on top of green beans.

Cover saucepan with a lid.

Bring to a light boil. Then turn heat down to low and simmer beans for 45 minutes.

  1. Good recipe. I use real bacon, granulated onion powder a shake of sugar and a shake of salt. Lightly cook the bacon, I cut half a strip of bacon into cubes
